Sparkasse 3-Länder Marathon (3 Countries Marathon)

Yesterday I completed the Sparkasse 3-Länder Marathon, a Marathon through Germany, Austria, Switzerland and then back into Austria.

The marathon itself forms part of a weekend celebrating running based in Bregenz, with Children’s ‘Marathons’ taking place on Saturday. For them the weather could not have been better, the Swiss and Austrian Alps had a little snow on them, the skies were blue and the temperature a comfortable 12 deg C.

Sadly for Sunday (which also had half marathon, quarter marathon and 10k races) we had some very cold wet October weather which kept many spectators inside and hid the mountains in a wall of white drizzle. Otherwise though it’s a unique marathon that I wholeheartedly recommend, just make sure you book good weather for yours!!

3 Countries Marathon 2017 (Germany, Austria, Switzerland then back to Austria). Great event, awful weather!! Worth doing, not only a unique race but in beautiful surroundings (as long as you can see them).
