Scotland Trip September 2005

The image gallery is at the base of the page

On the weekend of the 16th of September 2005 Gary and I headed up to the Highlands. With us were Ian and Jon, two friends of Gary's from a climbing club he is part of. I was a good weekend (weatherwise) for the first day, and then it all went downhill.

On the 16th we headed up from Tyndrum (where you can find the famous(ish) Green Welly Stop) south toward Beinn Dubhchraig. Having climbed Beinn Dubhchraig we set up camp on the ridge to the west, and intended to climb Ben Oss without kit. Sadly, just below the summit of Ben Oss we saw some pretty severe weather coming in, so we moved quickly back to camp. 5 minutes from camp we were hit by this heavy weather, and 10 minutes after that it blwe itself out. Damm.

We planned to complete Ben Oss the following day, and then Ben Lui, but as you can see from the piccies the weather turned pretty appaling, so we headed back to Tyndrum, and from there into Glencoe, where we crossed the river behind the Red Squirrel camp site. Of course you shouldn't do this, as we learned after a ticking off. The weather was supposed to improve, but didn't, so after a little walk up to the Hidden Valley we went home.

Oh, the last photos are from the plane home.
