Peaks - 20th to 22nd of Feb 2004
On an especially cold and bright weekend in February Jools and I shot off for a few days in the Peaks with a few members of the Cambridge Climbing Club. We intended to get loads of climbing done, but sadly a few little things got in the way.
Late in 2003 a friend had suggested that now I'm no longer a student I bin my home-made, probably lethal kit and get real components for my rack. I did the binning, but didn't realise until we arrived at Birchen Edge that I now only had left a sling and a few screwgates. We spent the rest of the morning soloing V-Diffs until our nerve failed and we went off Gear shopping.
We camped at North Lees, near Hathersage, and decided that we were too lazy to cook, and so walked for 35mins to the nearest pub.
The rest of that evening is something both I and Jools assume was a dream, it had that kind of quality. Already drunk we bumped into a huge group of old friends from Bath Uni Mountaineering Club. We talked for a while before getting a lift to the hut they and a load of other Uni people we didn't know were staying in. Then we both remember waking up in our tent. The missing last part of the evening may have had something to do with alcohol.
On the Sunday we walked off our hangovers and then headed home the photos are below, I am especially proud of the photo with the trees lining the path, taken on the Sunday walking up to Stanage Edge.
