Lakes - 23rd to 25th Jan 2004

On the weekend of the 23rd of January 2004 the Graduate Mountaineering Club stayed at the Sykeside Camping park in the Lake District. The weather was cold, and forecasts of heavy snow made most of us head back South on the Sunday (so we wouldn't loose our jobs!) but we still managed to get a days Hillwalking done, on the Saturday.

Very hungover from a night in the Brotherswater Inn we crawled out of bed and decided on a day of Hillwalking. Our route started at Patterdale (OS GRID: NY 39 16) where we parked one of the Cars. We then climbed the ridge to the South West leading to St Sunday Crag (NY 368 134), Fairfield (NY 359 116) and over to Hart Crag (NY 369 113). From there we dropped down into the Valley between Hart Crag and Dove Crag, and headed back to the pub. We used our other car to go and get the first.

The map we used was Ordnance Survey Explorer OL5.
